petersuber<p>I remember Richard <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Nixon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Nixon</span></a>'s Saturday Night Massacre, which precipitated the <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/impeachment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>impeachment</span></a> hearings which triggered his <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/resignation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>resignation</span></a>. Only one person was actually fired — Archibald Cox, the special prosecutor investigating Nixon. Two resigned because they refused to fire Cox — Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus. Total of three gone, and it was a scandal. <br><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Massacre" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday</span><span class="invisible">_Night_Massacre</span></a> </p><p>Make America great again.</p><p><a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/OvertonWindow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OvertonWindow</span></a> <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Tump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tump</span></a> <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/USPol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>USPol</span></a> <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/USPolitics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>USPolitics</span></a> <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Watergate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watergate</span></a></p>
Paco Hope #resist<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@jgobble" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>jgobble</span></a></span> Whatever law might exist to prohibit this would have to be prosecuted by a federal agency, as this is a federal thing. So imagine there is such a law. Can the prosecution get started, have a trial, get a verdict, and get sentencing (assuming guilt) all before the administration changes over? No.</p><p>So that’s the thing the oligarchs figured out. You can front run the law and then get friendly politicians to fix it so you don’t get prosecuted. <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/uspol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>uspol</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/tump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tump</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/@log" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>log</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@GottaLaff" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>GottaLaff</span></a></span></p>
