I finally got round to starting @pluralistic's "Picks & Shovels" last night.
I am hooked, and look forward to reading more later.
For some reason, it also makes me want to re-read "Pirate Cinema".

Thanks to Brian Bowyer for taking the time to read & review "Office Hours," one of the sci-fi/horror hybrids found in my latest release "8: Tales of The Big Men from The Nod/Wells Timelines."
BTW: "Sinister Mix" is a great place to start with his works.

A RELUCTANT WARRIOR SEEKS refuge in a hostile state only to find that his troubles are far from over—and that he and his beloved dragon are targets of powerful evil. Fascinatingly nuanced fantasy world, lots of excitement, second in a series. B PLUS

I've recently found a lot of joy from #book pairings I stumble on by accident.
I first read "The Terraformers" by Annalee Newitz, which is a wonderful little bit of scifi about people employed in terraforming entire worlds, as paid for by megacorps, to turn them into tourist destinations etc. It gives the usual corps vs enviornmentalist rundown, but in a brilliantly presented way, and is very inspiring.
Shortly thereafter, I read "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer, which is a very real story about her lived experience blending first nations wisdom with hard sciences of the west, and working to help her botany students, and the whole world realize that nature is not "out there" but that we are an integral part of nature, and that love of our environment, and realization that our environment loves us can prompt a radical shift in how we view the world and what we do with our time here.
This combination was fantastic, and I recommend them in the above order to anyone who is a fan of the #environment #solarpunk or just wants to find ways to make the world a better place.
I hope everyone enjoyed this week's free story, "Academic Displacement." If you did, there's a lot more to explore. Continue your speculative-fiction journey with "Shards," or chart your own course along The Nod/Wells Timelines.
